the devil's in the details...

I came across my crochet diary that I started in 2005.  It only had 43 entries…the last one being September 6, 2010.  At that time I was bemoaning the fact that I had not done anything on my Paradise gown.  This entry was oddly similar to the second entry of my journal on June 8, 2005.  And then, on September 12, 2012, I wrote once again ….”have done nothing on the Paradise gown.”

Why can’t I finish this piece?  I love the pattern.  I have had no problem with the Paradise patterns.  I love the gown.  It reminds me of an old Jeanette MacDonald movie or, more recently, Singing In The Rain.

Perhaps it is because I’m not sure the bodice fits correctly.  Perhaps I didn’t crochet it correctly.  And then there’s the skirt.  I can’t decide how to make it hang correctly.  I didn’t have much luck with the instructions in the pattern and I haven’t done much better left to my own devices.

I really do want to finish this dress.  At least I think I do.  But I’m afraid I will carefully put the lid back on the box and set the box  back on the shelf.   

Well, maybe next year.
