Lincoln Logs were invented by John Lloyd Wright. He got the idea in 1916 after seeing how the Imperial Palace Hotel in Tokyo was built. The product was named after President Abraham Lincoln who began his life in a log cabin in Kentucky.

I remember having Lincoln Logs as a kid. I just was never very good with them. I could pretty much copy the picture on the package .... but I wasn't so good at coming up with an original idea of my own.

And you can still buy Lincoln Log kits.
